Park Modern, a contemporary development comprising 52 apartments, 3 penthouses and 2 mews houses on the edge of London’s largest and most famous green space – Hyde Park. The 9-storey building offers direct views of Kensington Palace and the iconic London skyline. Spectacular south-facing views are accentuated by floor-to-ceiling glass, which allows natural light in throughout the day.

Residents will benefit from 30,000 sq. ft of 5-star hotel style amenities including a concierge, resident’s lounge, signature restaurant and cafe, valet parking, and a wellbeing floor with a 25 metre pool, gym, spa, cinema, and treatment salon.

The client, Fenton Whelan, wanted a certain edge to some of the products we were hoping to help with, in particular the main lever handle for the project.  The design brief was an organic shape, with a natural feel when used, like it was meant to fit every hand that used it…. along with the finish, which we worked closely on with one of our suppliers, a finish with a very specific nano coating, used to protect objects at the British Museum, longevity was the goal, to keep the finishing looking as pristine as the day it was installed.

The lever it’s self-went through a couple of design stages, we helped achieve the client’s goal by 3D printing each stage of the design process, allowing the team at Fenton Whelan the opportunity to actually get a “Feel” for the lever before we proceeded with the next stage of development.

Other aspects were also taken into consideration; how the lock would perform when the handle was attached, it’s not just when you first touch the lever, but when you operate the lock to open the door, that’s where our level of expertise comes into it’s element, knowing what manufacturers could achieve this level of quality and deal with, what turned out to be a lever handle weighing 2.2kg!
